Methods of payment

Online

You can make payments using our new secure online payment option for the following types of payment:  

Direct Debit Logo Visa Logo MasterCard Logo Solo Logo  

You need to have your Debit/Credit card and payment reference number (i.e. Council Tax account number or parking fine reference) ready. The Council can only accept payment by Switch, Visa Debit, Mastercard, Visa, Electron, or Solo.  

If this is the first time you have used our online payment service, please read the security information.  

Please note, it takes 2 working days before the payment shows on your account. If you need to make an urgent payment please pay via Customer Services (in person or by telephone).  

By Telephone

There are two options for making telephone payments. For both options you need to have your Debit/Credit card and payment reference number (i.e. Council Tax account number or parking fine reference) ready when you call.  

Please note that the Council can only accept payment by Switch, Visa Debit, Mastercard, Visa, Electron, or Solo.  

Touch Tone - fully automated payment service: 0345 634 3001. This service is available 24hrs/7 days a week for the following types of payments:

    • council tax
    • rent
    • car park fines
    • business rates

Using Online/Telephone Banking

If your bank or building society offer this facility you may make payment by this method. The Council's bank details are:

Please ensure you quote a fund number and your reference with your payment (i.e. 07 and your Council Tax account number or 09 and your parking fine reference) so that it can be applied correctly. If in doubt, please contact the Section who issued you the bill. Fund numbers are:  

  • 02 Rent
  • 03 Mortgages
  • 06 Business Rates
  • 07 Council Tax
  • 09 Car Parks
  • 10 Sundry Debtors

If you are making regular payments, such as Council Tax or Rent, you may be able to pay by Direct Debit or Standing Order. You can download the appropriate forms:  

In Person

Using the payment kiosk in the Dartford Civic Centre reception area during normal opening hours. You can pay by cash or credit/debit card. The kiosk does not accept cheques.    

By Post

Please send your cheque to the Dartford Borough Council, Civic Centre, Home Gardens, Dartford, Kent DA1 1DR.  

Cheques should be made payable to Dartford Borough Council with the reference number for the bill you are paying written clearly on the back (i.e. your Council Tax account number or parking fine reference).  

If you would like a receipt please enclose a stamped addressed envelope.  

Post dated cheques will be processed on the day of receipt.
