Community Safety Team
Helping to prevent crime and anti-social behaviour is everyones responsibility. Only by working in partnership, can we successfully tackle the issues that affect the quality of life for residents of Dartford.
Safe Dartford is working hard to address the issues that affect you. The Community Safety Unit (CSU) at Dartford is seen as a bench mark and similar units are being created across the County. North Kent is a safe place to live and work and by working together it can be made more so.
This website contains much information and advice on the work that is going on across both Dartford and Gravesham to create that safe place.
The Community Safety Plan for the current three year period can be accessed via our documents page.
How we work
Daily meetings are held within the CSU to look at reported crime over the previous 24 hours, incidents that have been reported to the Council, general anti social behaviour issues and ongoing projects and problems.
Representatives from both Police and Council assess and discuss community safety matters, deploying joint resources where appropriate. This sharing of information allows a comprehensive overview of incidents affecting residents' quality of life on a daily basis.
Identified problems are then dealt with on partnership basis with a named individual taking ownership of each problem.
Resources available to the partnership include a mobile CCTV van, rapid deployment CCTV and other technical equipment, together with staff from Council departments and Police.
Wider monthly meetings with other partners that include, Kent Fire and Rescue Service, South East Coast Ambulance Service, Kent County Council, Education Service, Probation Service and Social Services.
