Public Reassurance
The Public Reassurance Officer is a point of contact for people with concerns about their neighbourhood, those who have been victims of Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) or who have witnessed something that has troubled them close to home.
The officer will ensure the issue is raised with the person or group best placed to deal with it and will follow its progress and feed back to all concerned, helping the matter to be resolved as quickly and appropriately as possible as well as providing reassurance and support throughout.
One complaint made is that calling to report concerns is just a waste of time. This is not the case. All calls are recorded and dealt with, if not directly, then as a matter of course.
Every incident recorded can also be used at a later stage to support action for or against someone involved, so please don't stop calling in, even if you don't see an immediate response.
Whilst crime figures are coming down, the fear of crime is not. Stories in the local press about crime can fuel this fear as these types of stories sell papers. So please don't feel alone or unheard; make use of your local support network support us and we will support you.
