Overseas and service electors

If you are an overseas elector you can now choose to have your ballot paper sent to you overseas.

However, it will only be sent out one or two weeks before an election, therefore, in order to ensure your vote is counted you are strongly advised to continue using (or appoint if newly overseas) a proxy to vote on your behalf.

Keeping your vote if moving abroad

If you are a British citizen and you are thinking of living or working abroad, you may still be able to vote from your last address here. Your right to vote in this country's elections can apply for up to 15 years.

At the time of an election you can choose to vote by post or proxy
