Role of a DBRF Committee Member

Reports to:

Other Committee Members and residents of Dartford Borough Council

Purpose of the role:

To represent the views of Dartford Borough Council  residents’ (tenants & Leaseholders)to the Council and to feedback on work to date to our members.

To monitor the delivery of all housing services.

Principal Accountabilities
  • To monitor the delivery of DBC’s Housing Services and attend contract monitoring meetings with Housing Managers and Contractors
  • To represent DBC residents’ views to the Council’s Housing Services and other DBRF members in meetings, drop-ins and other community events
  • To feedback DBC decisions to the community using all available methods
  • Undergo training and other events to enable you to participate fully
  • To be the first point of contact for borough wide consultations including changes to housing services policies that would affect residents
  • Participate in consultations and decision making processes within Housing Services and occasionally other front line services
  • To read, understand and adhere to the working documents of the Forum including the Constitution, Equal Opportunities statement, Confidentiality agreement etc
  • To help organise DBRF events
  • To be non-party political
  • To always declare an interest where this may conflict with their role
Recognition Criteria
  • To be  a tenant or leaseholder of Dartford Borough Council
  • Have a general interest in improving the lives of residents
  • Must not be in more than 4 weeks rent arrears
