Accredited Training (Chartered Institute of Housing)
Certificate in Community Action
TPAS has been given the go ahead by the Chartered Institute of Housing to run their Certificate in Community Action.
What is Accredited Training?
It is an opportunity to provide a formal recognition of achievement to people who attend TPAS training events. It is also an opportunity to build on what people already do in their communities and to accredit their learning.
What is the Certificate in Community Action?
This is a level 2 award is aimed at people who take an active role in their communities and would like to receive formal recognition of their achievements.
The aim of the award is to encourage people to participate and develop their skills and learning so that they become confident and effective active tenants and individuals.
The award is made up of six units that can be completed in any order:
- Opportunities for Involvement
- Understanding Communities
- Services for Communities
- Understanding Diversity
- Participating in Communities
- Developing Skills and Attitudes for Community and Neighbourhood Action
On completion of all 6 units, participants will be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in Community Action. Participants will receive a unit certificate for the units they achieve where they have been unable to achieve a full qualification.
Why is it different to normal TPAS Training?
The main difference between this award and attending a Training event is that you will need to demonstrate that as a result of attending the training you have achieved the learning outcomes from each of the six units that make up the award.
You will do this by completing a record of achievement. This is made up from
- a Log that records the learning from the Courses you have attended.
- an Assessment Portfolio that ask you to show how you meet the learning outcomes
- a number of Community based Assessments.
How can I achieve the award?
You may achieve the award by attending public and In-house training courses.
- Option 1: attending a bespoke Certificate in Community Action training course.
- Option 2: attending a mixture of training courses and workshops
- Option 3: attending a mixture of training courses and workshops with recognition for your activities in the community.
Delegates who attend a whole range of TPAS training sessions including popular courses such as chairing and meetings skills, involving everyone, getting on board and mystery shopping training can apply the learning from these courses.
