FAQs
What is the Here to Help scheme?
Here to Help is part of a national programme aiming to prevent fuel poverty and climate change. Running from February 2007 to March 2008 it offers tenants and leaseholders energy efficient products to help reduce household bills and reduce escaping heat. Several initiatives are also offered to help save money, increase income and improved quality of life.
Who can benefit from the scheme?
All Dartford Borough Council tenants and leaseholders are eligible.
Do I have to be a British Gas customer to benefit?
No. You do not need to be a British Gas customer and you don’t even need a mains gas supply.
How much does it cost?
Tenants pay nothing, the Council and British Gas pick up the tab for the survey and any installation works needed. Leaseholders may be asked to make a contribution towards the improvements completed to their property.
What happens?
Tenants will receive a letter from British Gas inviting people to allow a surveyor to call. Surveys run from 8.30 – 5.00 with outside hours (including Sat morning) appointments available to those who would like them. You will be offered a free benefits and referral to charity partners– you do not have to take up on this offer – it is optional.
The Council and British Gas agree on the work for each property and installation dates are agreed. Services are installed at a convenient date for you.
