Central Park ban for anti social drinkers

Dartford’s Central Park is now an alcohol control zone after special powers were implemented to bring the park in line with other areas in the town centre. Dartford town centre already has a control zone in place and the extension to Central Park will cut the levels of anti-social behaviour being tackled by Kent Police.

The new rules enable Police Officers or designated Police Community Support Officers to order alcohol to be poured away or taken home. Any person who ignores the request could be liable to a fine of up to £500. (more…)

New Year’s Eve revellers to benefit from Grabbacab again

Dartford’s New Year revellers are set to benefit from the hugely popular Grabbacab service again this year – helping the town’s hundreds of party goers to get home quickly and safely. The move follows the success of New Year’s Eve 2006 when the service was used by more than 600 people.

The service will operate from 11.30pm on New Year’s Eve until 3.30am on New Year’s Day as well as at the same times on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 December. Grabbacab enables town centre visitors to pick up private hire cars or hackney carriages from Market Street bus stands quickly and easily rather than gathering in many different areas of the town centre. Dartford gets slice of £50million prize

Dartford’s residents and visitors are set to benefit from improved cycling and pedestrian routes as Connect2 wins the Big Lottery Fund’s: The People’s £50 million contest. Dartford’s proposal was one of 79 schemes across the UK involved in the winning project and will receive £600,000 towards the proposed series of routes for the town. (more…)

Gold standard for Dartford venues

Two Dartford venues have been awarded gold certificates as part of the Safer Socialising Award scheme. Air and Breathe night club and The Paper Moon Public House will be receiving the coveted status at an award ceremony on Tuesday 11 December. (more…)

Death of Councillor Margaret Stock

It is with sadness that the Council announces the death of Councillor Mrs Margaret Stock this week (Saturday 8 December).  Margaret had been battling cancer for a number of years.  Cllr Mrs Stock’s death follows that of her husband, Vic, in January this year. (more…)

Town centre hosts community safety teams

Shoppers in Dartford’s town centre will be able to pick up safety tips with their Christmas shopping on Thursday, 20 December as a special crime reduction roadshow sweeps into town.

The community safety day will feature representatives from the Council, Police and Fire services offering helpful tips and equipment to shoppers and town centre visitors. (more…)

Residents urged to demand full search for HIPs

Homeowners looking to sell their homes are being reminded to ensure they get a local authority land search when completing home information packs (HIPs). The packs were introduced for properties with three or more bedrooms in September this year and will be extended to all properties being sold from 14 December. (more…)
