New era in relations between Council and Police brings quick results
Statement from the Leader in relation to this morning’s police operation in Dartford
Jeremy Kite, Leader of Dartford Borough Council, said
“I can confirm that our organisations have been sharing information in advance of today’s operation as a result of the new working arrangements between the Council and Police launched last month.
I have a message for criminals in Dartford who believe there is a gap between the Police and organisations like ours. The rules have changed and today the Council stands side-by-side with the Police – driving and co-operating with the identification of targets.
Drug dealers are little better than rats, feeding on the decency in society and I believe that these operations will make our neighbourhoods safer for families. There will be more operations like today and they could take place tomorrow, next week, next month or at any time of the Police’s choosing.
Together, Chief Superintendent Gary Beautridge and I are determined to reclaim our community for decent people – street by street if necessary – and we are working with unprecedented closeness to throw a net over the spineless, cowardly minority who cause most of the trouble.
If there is evidence that drug dealers are operating from council-owned property we have powers to evict and we will not hesitate to use them”
