Guided walk through Darenth Woods

Residents can see how Darenth Woods are being improved on a special guided walk on Saturday 12 July.

The ‘Summer views and vistas’ walk will take visitors through the woods to show the improvements made by volunteers and others in improving access, creating new paths, and opening up areas to reveal spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. (more…)

Strike and Gin a tonic for festival

Dartford Festival is set to prove Britain’s Got Talent with two top acts from the hit TV show confirmed to perform at this year’s event.  Martial Arts duo Strike, dancing dog act Kate and Gin will perform on Sunday 20 July. (more…)

New walks and cycling connections for pupils

Students who walk or cycle to school via Princes Road will soon benefit from an important new access link to the Brooklands Lakes.

Dartford Borough Council has secured a grant of £100,000 from the national transport charity SUSTRANS to create an improved access scheme between Darenth Road, Brooklands Lakes and the Darenth Valley Path. (more…)

Gunn Road signs up to new agreement with fun day

Swanscombe residents living in and around Gunn Road have celebrated the introduction of an important new neighbourhood agreement between themselves and the council – with a family fun day.

The event, dubbed the ‘party in the car park’ brought together residents from the local area for a day of fun activities including a High School Musical performance and cheerleading training. (more…)

Smokefree success for Dartford

Sea Cadets awarded first Salute to Youth Grant

Young people of the TS Anson, Dartford and Crayford Sea Cadets are celebrating this week after learning that they are to receive a cash boost of £5000 in the first of Dartford Council’s Salute to Youth grant scheme.

The funding which will go towards much needed new canoes, will help the cadets to train and represent the borough in Divisional and National canoeing competitions. (more…)

High Court Injunction to close Bean removal business

Dartford Borough Council has been granted an interim injunction to stop a removal business from operating illegally in Bean.

The injunction was ordered at the High Court on Thursday 19 June against the site owner, his son and persons unknown and requires the operation to cease and all facilitating equipment, such as internal and external containerised storage, to be removed within two months. (more…)
