Take a step back in time with trails booklet
Residents can delve into the history of the town centre with a new booklet outlining three town heritage trails.
The town trails booklet, produced by Dartford Borough Council, outlines three walks through Dartford highlighting 11 heritage panels providing pictures and tales of the town’s history.
Residents can find out more about Dartford’s links with Henry VIII, the spot that was allegedly the home of Wat Tyler, the leader of the Peasants’ Revolt in 1381, and information on many of the town’s oldest buildings.
Councillor Patsy Thurlow, portfolio holder for heritage, says the trails make great walks for everyone to enjoy.
“Dartford has a rich, varied heritage and the Town Trails Booklet is a great way of delving into Dartford’s past and locating the hidden gems that lie in our town. There are so many fascinating stories about the town and the trails provide an easy and fun way to learn more about them.”
The town trails booklet costs £2.00 and is available from Dartford Civic Centre cash office, Dartford Borough Museum, Dartford Library and The Orchard Theatre.
A set of 16 postcards detailing the heritage panels is also available at £2.00 each.
