The Hunt is on to find the longest runner bean for 2009 …
…For all those green fingered gardeners out there why not try your hand at growing runner beans this summer? Come along to Dartford Farmers Market on Friday 15 May and pick up some freshly planted runner bean seeds, there will also be hints and tips on how to plant and grow them.
If you’re successful why not bring your longest runner bean along to Dartford Farmers Market between 10am and 2pm for judging on Friday 21 August and/ or Friday 18 September. There will be prize of hamper of delicious local produce for the winner with the longest runner bean. The competition is open to two age categories – under 14′s and over 14′s.
Recipe Sheets will be available from August onwards offering hints and tips on how to grow runner beans.
Dartford Farmers Market is held on the third Friday of each month between 10am and 2pm in Dartford High Street. There is a wide variety of local produce available.
