Step up for North Kent Walking Festival

The North Kent Walking Festival kicks off this weekend, Sunday, 17 May, offering the chance to explore and learn about your local area. The festival runs until the end of June and includes more than 100 guided walks in coastal locations, countryside and historic towns, with at least one walk taking place every day. The walks take place at various times of the day and many are themed, covering interests such as local history, wildlife, archaeology, or arts based activities.

The festival is organised by a partnership of 30 groups in North Kent, including local councils, health organisations, The Ramblers Association and a range of environmental, heritage, arts and community groups. The walks are led by local people keen to share their enthusiasm for the area, and the fun and health benefits to be gained from walking.

A free brochure with full details of all the walks is available at visitor information centres, country parks, libraries and other community buildings across North Kent. Alternatively, phone Capstone Country Park on 01634 338191 to receive a copy by post.

Most of the walks are free but all walks must be booked in advance by contacting Capstone Country Park.
