Power Outage update from Dartford Borough Council

Dartford Borough Council has long standing emergency plans to work with partners in situations such as yesterday’s power outage. The Council has been operating the emergency plan since the incident began at 12.40 on Monday, 20 July. Each agency has different responsibilities during an emergency and Dartford Borough Council’s responsibility is to ensure that vulnerable and elderly residents in our sheltered accommodation are cared for with food, light and hot water.

Dartford Borough Council has also put in place plans to ensure that disruption to essential services is kept to a minimum. People with concerns about their health should contact their local health services as normal, but those residents whose GP surgery is affected by the power failure should call NHS Direct on 0845 4647.

The latest information we have is that EDF Energy Networks hope to have restored power to homes not already back on supply, either permanently or temporarily, during the course of tomorrow evening, 22nd July 2009. For further information please visit: www.edfenergy.com or please call their hotline: 0800 028 0247.
