Fireworks Display in Central Park

This year’s spectacular fireworks display in Dartford’s Central Park will be held on Saturday 7 November.

This annual event, organised and run by Dartford Lions Club, kicks off at 5.30pm with the bonfire being lit at 7pm and the fireworks starting at 7.45pm.

Unlawful Paint Ball Operation closed down

For some time an unlawful paintball operation has been active on Dartford Marshes. The operator of the paintball activity, Mr. Dave Stewart, despite repeated requests and despite legal action by Dartford Borough Council, refused to remove the unsightly unit from an important open area of marshland, which is designated a Site of Nature Conservation. Dartford Borough Council prosecuted Mr. Stewart for failing to comply with a legal notice which required the cessation of the paintball games and the removal of the structures. (more…)

Oil Pollution preparedness; Booming exercise – River Darent

Oil pollution of the Kent shoreline as the result of a maritime incident on the River Thames and along the coast is a threat for which riparian local authorities have to be prepared to deal with. There is a National Contingency Plan that requires local authorities to have trained personnel to manage the response to oil deposited on the shoreline.

Carbon Trust award for Dartford Borough Council

Dartford Borough Council has scooped a top award from the Carbon Trust at an awards ceremony held in London on Tuesday 8th September 2009, recognising the Council’s Carbon Management Plan as exemplar.

New surface car park to replace Westgate multi-storey

At a cabinet meeting of Councillors on the 24th September, it was agreed that Dartford Borough Council’s Westgate Car Park would now be demolished following an incident on the 19th August where a piece of masonry fell from a supporting column and struck a parked car.
