Dartford man fined for the sound of music

Dartford Borough Council’s Environmental Protection team successfully brought a prosecution at Dartford Magistrates Court on the 12th February 2010, when Mr. James Dean Caird pleaded guilty to five counts of breaching a noise Abatement Notice. This action was taken following several complaints from neighbours about excessive noise over a period of weeks. The Council gathered the evidence with a noise recorder.

Mr Caird was fined £500 (£100 per count) and £300 costs plus £15 victim’s surcharge. An Agreement was set for him to pay the fine back at £20 per month. His CD player, speakers, amplifier, and TV surround-sound system were forfeited. The Abatement Notice will remain on Mr. Caird of Alamein Gardens, Dartford and, if necessary, will be enforced again.
