Access your vote to the General Election
If you would like to vote by post at the General Election or you require help to place your vote, you should contact our Electoral Services team now – that’s the message to residents from Dartford Borough Council.
Once a General Election is called, there will only be a very short period of time to organise a postal vote. To make sure you get your postal vote, you should apply to our Electoral Services team now.
We can also help those residents who may find voting difficult due to access problems or a disability. Voters should contact us as soon as possible to get further advice.
If you have changed your address since the annual canvass in October 2009 or your name is missing from the electoral register, you can ask to have your details added. Applications are accepted on a monthly basis and can be made at any time between December and mid-August. To make sure you get your vote at the General Election, you should register as soon as possible. The latest you can apply for a change to the register is eleven working days before the election.
Irene Stapley, Electoral Services Officer, commented:
“There are several ways in which voters with disabilities can vote or be helped to vote within the polling station. We can give people advice in advance of polling day and help them to consider all the options if they contact us. Postal voting is also available to all residents who have registered to vote and may be particularly helpful for those who find it difficult to journey to a polling station”.
