Demolition work to commence at the town’s Westgate car park
Contractors will begin work to demolish the town’s Westgate car park during April 2010.
Council officers together with the contractor, John F Hunt and the Health & Safety coordinator, will be contacting homes and businesses nearby to discuss the works to be undertaken and will address concerns neighbours to the car park may have whilst the programme of works is ongoing. It is expected that these works will take approximately 26 weeks to complete from commencement.
Once the existing car park structure is demolished the area will be transformed into a large surface pay and display car park, providing much needed parking facilities for local people to use whilst visiting the town centre.
