Free money skills training for 16 to 25 year olds…

Young people can obtain practical advice on how to manage their money and get information to be able to make informed choices about their finances and avoid the pitfalls of debt. The free two hour training course is open to anyone aged 16-25 whether in work, in education or training, unemployed, caring for children or on benefits and a certificate of attendance is given.

The training takes place on Wednesday 28 July, from 10.30am to 12.30pm at Acacia Hall, High Street, Dartford.

Funded by Barclays and delivered by the Citizens Advice Bureau the range of topics covered in the course will include:
• How and when to make a budget as a means of controlling spending.
• The advantages and disadvantages of different types of credit, including credit union loans.
• Exploring how sales techniques work.
• Banking procedures and ways to overcome problems.
• Advantages of setting money aside/saving and the range of saving choices.
• How to take steps to control debt and where to get help.
• How to compile a personalised ‘money survival kit’ of money guidance.
