Dartford Borough Council welcomes Big Lottery Fund announcement

The Big Lottery Fund has today announced that Tree Estate and part of Dartford town centre are two areas out of a total 50 that will benefit from a nationwide £1 million funding programme. The ‘Big Local Trust’ has been designed to help people in areas that have been overlooked for funding in the past, particularly from the Big Lottery Fund. Dartford Borough Council and the Big Local Trust will consult with residents to make their communities better places to live, now and in the future.

Says Jeremy Kite, Leader of Dartford Borough Council:

“Dartford Borough Council has been dedicated in pushing for Big Lottery Fund recognition in Dartford and we are thrilled that the Big Local Trust is making this possible. The town centre and Tree Estate immediately came to mind when we were asked where would most benefit from the support. We’re looking forward to working together with these local communities to ensure we get the most out of this opportunity and build on the continuous improvement of our town.”

Working together with residents
The funding will be distributed via a charitable trust that will work closely with the residents of Tree Estate and the town centre to decide how their communities should benefit. Working in partnership with residents is key to ensuring that improvements are welcome and sustainable in these important areas within Dartford.

Dartford Borough Council is delighted that the local community will decide how the money is to be spent and will wholeheartedly support this consultation and decision-making process.
