Council Tax frozen again
Thursday March 1 2012The snow may have gone but Dartford’s Council Tax is still frozen.
The Council met on Monday 27 February to consider the budget for the year ahead and agreed that Council Tax should be frozen for the year 2012/13.
This is the second consecutive year that Council Tax has not risen in the Borough – remaining at the rate set in 2010/11. For a Band D property this means a charge of £162.90.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Jeremy Kite, said, “We don’t believe that service cuts are inevitable and we don’t believe in putting your Council Tax up when we don’t have to. Instead, we continue to cut costs INSIDE the Civic Centre and try to remember that you are the boss. It means you have the right to tell us how you want things done, how you want us to do them and a right to expect us not to waste money as we go about our business.”
Council Tax statements and a booklet explaining how your Council Tax is spent will be hitting doormats shortly. Information is also available at www.dartford.gov.uk/counciltax. For further information about the Council’s budget, visit www.dartford.gov.uk/budget.
