Parking Services
Dartford Borough Council has a team dedicated to the operational activities for Civil Parking Enforcement (CPE). The team is known as Parking Services and comprises Civil Enforcement Officers (CEOs) patrolling the streets of the borough and office based administrative support officers. All officers are trained for their respective duties and provide a professional service for the delivery of CPE.
The Parking Services team assist the local highway authority (Kent County Council) in its explicit duty under the Traffic Management Act 2004 to tackle congestion and disruption on the road network. CEOs ensure the expeditious movement of traffic on Dartford’s road network by ensuring that any parking related kerb-space management restrictions are adhered to by highway users.
The team also manages the operation of Dartford Borough Council’s off-street car parks and on-street parking places endeavouring to provide appropriate parking for specific purposes.
Much of the kerb-space in the borough is uncontrolled and so drivers of motor vehicles are able to choose for themselves where and how to park their vehicles. Increasingly though, Dartford Borough Council officers are advised by residents and business owners that vehicles are left on the highway without any consideration to other highway users.
The Parking Services team are working with colleagues to ensure that appropriate measures are implemented in order to ensure that vehicles are parked safely and responsibly so as not to delay and frustrate other highway users or in extreme cases contribute to road traffic crashes.
