Grounds Maintenance of Open Spaces & Parks

The overall management of the parks is under the Council's Property & Regeneration Directorate, however the Environmental Contracts Section administer horticultural maintenance through English Landscapes Ltd. This company has a contract with the Council for the horticultural upkeep of both parks until December 2006.

Open Spaces
In addition to maintaining Central & Hesketh Park, the Environmental Contracts Section is responsible for maintenance of a wide range of other locations. Totalling over 4600 individual sites these include:
- Recreation grounds
- Local amenity areas
- Children's playgrounds
- Highway verges
- Council housing estate open spaces
- Elderly persons sheltered housing gardens
- Parts of Dartford Heath
