The Local Plan Review process is one of the most important tasks undertaken by the Council.
The publication of this Amended Second Deposit Draft of the Review represents the culmination of a considerable amount of work by Officers and Members in fine tuning the policy approach that will help shape the future of Dartford. The Amended Second Deposit Draft has taken account of the comments received following the publication of the First and Second Deposit Drafts and the latter’s amendments, as well as changes in national, regional and strategic planning policy.
The Amended Second Deposit Draft is a material consideration for the purposes of the Council’s planning responsibilities including development control and will be an important factor for the Council in the determination of planning applications in the future. It is important that the text of the Amended Second Deposit Draft is read in conjunction with the proposed revisions to the set of Proposals Maps which cover the Borough.
The content of the Amended Second Deposit Draft will not progress to Inquiry stage or adoption. In January 2004, the Council took the decision to draw work on this Review to a close and begin preparation of a “Local Development Framework” for the Borough in order to comply with the provisions of the new “Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act”.
