'Wheelie Bin' recycling scheme - what to recycle

Black boxes have been replaced by grey wheeled bins for dry recyclables. They should be filled with dry recyclable materials as shown below, and left out alongside your green wheeled bin or black sack, on your normal refuse collection day.

Dry recyclables will be collected on separate vehicles and may therefore be removed at a different time to the wheeled bin emptying, however they should be collected on the same day.

Black Box for Glass

The Council's new glass recycling scheme will operate like all of our refuse and recycling collections, and will be collected from the front boundary of your property, using your existing Black Box.

The Black Box for Glass will be collected fortnightly on the same day as your Grey Recycling Wheelie Bin. See the calendar in your introductory pack.

Please place the following in your Black Box:

We can collect all colours of glass bottles and jars. Currently only glass bottles and jars can be recycled, which is then turned back into new bottles. Other varieties of glass have different melting temperatures, which affects the production of new bottles.

Please DO NOT place the following in your Black Box:

These items should either be taken to your local Household Tip or put in with your general Household Waste.
