Bulky Household Waste Collection
Bulky Household Waste
The Council can arrange for a contractor to collect and dispose of bulky household waste such as furniture or large appliances (available only to Dartford Borough Council residents).
There is a charge for this service of £25 for the first 15 minutes, and £15.00 for subsequent 15 minute periods.
The time you pay for when ordering a Special Collection is for your items to be carried and loaded onto a van by two men. You buy the clearance time in 15 minute slots, and you should estimate as best you can to allow for all your items to be collected. The more items you have or the more awkward it is to access them - the more time you should allow.
PLEASE NOTE:
- The men carrying out the collections are only allowed to collect the items up to the maximum time you have paid for. If you underestimate the time required, or do not list all of the items you want collected, you would need to request another Special Collection.
- The men carrying out the collections are not allowed to enter any property to carry out a special collection. All items must be placed outside to be collected.
To help you estimate the time, below is a typical example of what can be collected with a in a single 15 minute time slot where the items have been left easily accessible at the front of the house.
EXAMPLE OF A TYPICAL 15 MINUTE COLLECTION
- 2 double beds with mattresses
- 2 single beds with mattresses
- 1 washing machine
- 1 dining table
- 2 small carpets
If you have up to twice as much to collect you should order a 30
minute collection.
Once you have ordered a collection, you will be contacted within 5 working days to make an appointment.
To arrange a collection you can:
- Complete an Online Request & Payment Form

There are some items such as rubble, hardcore and soil that we cannot collect. Please check with us first if you have any type of building waste.
Some charities offer a free collection service for furniture and other items that are reusable. The Council has arrangements with Selkent (tel: 01797 369 010, 07956 855 051), but other charities such as the EllenorLions Hospice are known to collect in the area.
