Parking Management
Many residents asked the Council to look at introducing parking controls around Dartford town centre and Greenhithe railway station because of parking related problems. There have been several rounds of consultation and proposals drafted following liaison with the respective ward councillors.
Greenhithe: Following two rounds of informal consultation with residents in the vicinity of Greenhithe railway station and the statutory consultation during October 2009, Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs) have been introduced and became operational 31 August 2010. Those wishing to park their vehicles on-street will now need to comply with the lined and signed parking controls. Further information is available at Greenhithe Parking Scheme.
Dartford West: Following two rounds of informal consultation with residents in the vicinity of Dartford town centre and the statutory consultation during November 2010 for Dartford West, a report was discussed by Cabinet on 27 January 2011. The low response rate indicated that households did not support the proposals and so, with the exception of Westgate Road (West of Highfield Road) and Shepherds Lane (between West Hill and Miskin Road), all of the on-street parking management proposals for Dartford West will be deleted.
Dartford East: Following two rounds of informal consultation with residents in the vicinity of Dartford town centre, the statutory consultation is scheduled to take place during autumn 2011.
No decisions have been made yet to implement any parking controls in Dartford East and we continue to advise that only where the majority of respective communities support them will parking controls be delivered.
