Additional Restrictions Grants (ARG) Scheme - Discretionary

We also have funding to help businesses that were required to close, but are not registered for business rates or are able to remain open but have been severely impacted by the national lockdown restrictions. This will include businesses which supply the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors and businesses in the events sector. To qualify for this funding, businesses must have been trading in Dartford on the first day of the restrictions and have business premises in Dartford. Apply for a grant

Anyone caught falsifying their records to make a fraudulent application for any of the available grants will be prosecuted and ordered to repay the money.

Grants under these schemes are considered to be State Aid/Subsidy. It is the responsibility of the business to ensure they do not accept grant payments that would exceed the State Aid/Subsidy limits. If the limit is exceeded, the grant may be required to be repaid.

If you have already applied for and received a support grant for the second period of national lockdown and continue to be severely affected from 5 January 2021 you will not need to make a further application for the third lockdown period. This is regardless of whether you were able to open under Tier 3 and Tier 4 restrictions.

Discretionary Business Lockdown Payment

One off grants

In line with the grant available to closed businesses paying business rates the Council has decided to award an additional one-off business grant to businesses awarded ARG in period of national restrictions except in the case of those with low fixed costs (e.g. home based and mobile businesses). This scheme will close for applications on 31 March 2021.

If you have not already applied for a national lockdown grant and have been ordered to close from 5 January 2021, you will need to make an application for a national lockdown grant and you will automatically be assessed for this grant at the same time.
