On February 6th 2022, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II entered the 70th year of her reign – becoming the first British monarch to do so.

The country and commonwealth celebrate Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee throughout 2022 and the occasion is to be marked by a four day Bank Holiday weekend starting on Thursday, June 2nd and ending on Sunday June 5th.

There will be celebrations up and down the country and, as you might imagine, Dartford will be missing no opportunity to join in with all the fun and create a legacy of memories for everyone.

The Council has already started planting new Jubilee Wildflower Meadows and begun the work of planting thousands of new trees across the Borough.  In Central Park, our 2022 Floral Bed provides a fitting tribute to Her Majesty and her years of service.

I know that the memories that matter most, though, are those that arise from sharing experiences with family, friends and neighbours.

To celebrate Her Majesty’s seventy years of service we therefore hoped to offer funding support to 70 local street parties. Thanks to a huge response from the community we have been pleased to support rather more.

We are also offering more substantial support to other events, particularly those taking part in the national lighting of beacons to celebrate the Jubilee.  These events will take place in communities, clubs, villages and parks across the borough.

The council has also worked with partner organisations to make sure there are plenty of ways to honour this unprecedented anniversary.

It has also arranged for a huge day of fun-packed family activity in Central Park, which will see hundreds of people attending.
