Dartford's Big Day Out is a free event taking place in Central Park on July 16th celebrating the 'Best of British'.
Thousands of people are set to flock to Central Park this Saturday for Dartford’s Big Day Out.
The highlight of Dartford Borough Council’s summer of events will combine a Celebration of Steam with a live music stage, roaming entertainment and fairground rides.
There’ll also be a Great British Tea Tent offering free cuppas all day, plus money off food and drink, along with community stalls to visit.
The event’s theme is the Best of British and hopes to bring thousands of people together for a community-fete style gathering.
Plus, hot on the heels of his Glastonbury show, Amarillo singer Tony Christie will be performing live, along with a live local band and tributes to some of Britain’s biggest pop and rock legends.
On the live music stage, Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions winners Twist and Pulse will be hosting throughout the day as well as performing. Visitors will also be able to see:
- The Little Mix Show
- Wannabe (A tribute to Spice Girls)
- The Soundcasters
- A Tom Jones tribute act
- Tony Christie
- The Stones (A tribute to The Rolling Stones)
The Council is welcoming back the very best of the popular steam rally, with a miniature steam railway offering rides. Get up close with a full sized Spitfire taking pride of place in our British history area, or enjoy traditional fair rides and attractions such as Gallopers, Punch and Judy and a Chair-o-plane.
For those wishing to relax and take in the atmosphere, there will be plenty of space to bring a picnic blanket and set up base for the day. If you don’t fancy bringing your own picnic then Central Park Café and a host of food stalls will be on hand to provide refreshments.
Leader of the Council Jeremy Kite MBE said: “The pandemic may have scuppered our usual summer events, but we’ve put in a lot of effort to make sure the Big Day Out offers something for everyone and brings us all back together for a celebration in Central Park.
“Whether it’s offering free rides, money off food, or free entry to this great event, we hope that families will come down and enjoy this special occasion.
“It’s set to be a scorcher this weekend, so we’d ask visitors to stay safe by drinking plenty of water, spending time in the shade and wearing sunscreen. While dogs on leads are allowed, please consider whether they’ll be okay out in the heat.”
Dartford Borough Council is pleased to present this event with the help of Cohesion Plus, Celebtime, Dartford Scouts and other organisations. The event runs from 11am to 6pm.
Parking will be available at Acacia Hall and there are three entrances to the park on Market Street by Dartford Library & Museum, on Cranford Road and on Darenth Road.
