Other Refuse and Recycling Topics
Street Cleaning
All public roads are swept at least once every four weeks and many areas, such as shopping precincts, are swept more often.
Waste Presentation Rules
Under Section 46 of The Environmental Protection Act (1990), Dartford Borough Council can require residents to present their household waste in accordance with the following requirements:
Your bins/sacks must be presented at the boundary of your property closest to the road, no earlier than the evening prior to the scheduled collection day and by 6am on the day of collection. Your household waste remains the responsibility of the resident until it is collected.
Side Waste
Our refuse collectors will no longer take waste bags left beside the green wheelie bins we provide. The reason for this is simple. As a council, we are under increased pressure to cut waste sent to landfill and to increase recycling rates.
Our recycling collectors do accept side waste, providing it is less than 3 translucent sacks or neatly folded cardboard. Please ensure that side waste is presented conveniently next to your recycling bin and not obstructing the footpath.
Under Section 33 and 87 of the Environmental Protection Act (1990), Dartford Borough Council can take enforcement action against individuals that present unnecessary or excessive side waste.
Food Waste
We do not provide a service for the separate collection of food waste, which should be put in your Green Refuse bin.
