There are, on occasion, properties that are in use without having an official registered address.  Reasons for this include the Developers not knowing they needed to apply for one or that a building with an address has been divided up and the owners assumed that the existing address would cover all parts.  It is important that all addresses are officially registered to ensure that your property can be located quickly in an emergency situation.

You can check if your property has an official address by using the following webpage – www.findmyaddress.co.uk (link opens in new window).  If your address appears when you search for it and has a UPRN (Unique Property Reference Number) then it has been officially registered.

If it doesn’t have a UPRN then you can apply to have it registered using the following form - Register an Unregistered Address (link opens in new window) - this can be completed online and only takes a few minutes.  There is a £60 fee per address. Details on making payment will be sent once the application has been acknowledged.

The team aim to acknowledge SNN applications within five working days from receipt of the completed form.

This form is to only be used for an occupied existing property that has no official address.  If you are converting a property or building a new property, you will need to go back to the SNN homepage and look in the section ‘Addressing New Properties’.

If you prefer to use a paper version of the application form, please contact the Property Information team who will be happy to send one out to you.
