Moving out

If you wish to move out of your home, the tenant(s) will be required to provide four weeks notice by completing a termination form which must be returned to the Housing Estate Management Team. Rent will be payable during these four weeks and up until the keys are returned or until the Council obtains possession. Keys should be returned to the Housing Estate Management Team by 12pm on a Monday, not to incur charges for that week.

It is possible to retract or extend your termination period by contacting the Housing Estate Management Team on 01322 3431133.

In exceptional circumstances we may allow the keys to be returned before the four weeks notice without any rent charges, a termination form will still be required.

Any internal and Housing Association transfers, Permanent Residential placements may not be required to provide four weeks notice, however rent will still be payable until the keys are returned. For further information on this, please contact Housing Estate Management on 01322 343133.

The property, including lofts, sheds and gardens, must be cleared and cleaned. Goods, belongings and all floor-coverings (except lino that was provided by Dartford Borough Council in kitchens and bathrooms) must be removed regardless of age or condition. Please note you are liable for any damages to the property caused through neglect by you or members of your household and the cost of any remedial work the council has to undertake because of this.
