Decisions taken by Officers

The Council operates an executive form of governance, under which most decisions are taken by Cabinet or its committees/sub-committees.  Other decisions  known as non-executive decisions, are taken by the General Assembly of the Council or its committees. In both cases, decisions can be delegated to officers.

Many of these decisions are of a routine, administrative or operational nature and are taken in the day-to-day work of the Council/Cabinet in delivering services to its customers. However, other decisions are taken which may affect the rights of an individual, or result in the granting of a permission, licence or the awarding of major contracts. These decisions are recorded on the Council's web site and may be viewed by following the links below.

The Openness of Local Government Bodies Regulations 2014 are designed to make local authorities more transparent to their local communities. Regulation 7 requires that certain types of officer decisions are recorded and made available to the public.
