About the new tenancy agreement
Following on from our previous consultation in May regarding the review of our current Tenancy Agreement, we have now served a Preliminary Notice of Variation for all tenancies, as required by the Housing Act 1985 (Section 103) to all tenants. This Notice has informed all tenants of the Council’s intention to vary the conditions of tenancy.
We have considered all comments from the previous consultation and responded where appropriate. We will also make amendments to the Tenancy Agreement if necessary. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to send us their comments.
This second consultation is again inviting views from Dartford Borough Council tenants on our revised Tenancy Agreement terms and conditions.
Please note this does not mean that anyone’s tenancy will end. We are only proposing to change the terms of the existing tenancy agreement. Tenants will not be asked to sign a new tenancy agreement, but the changes will apply to all tenants once they come into effect.
A full copy of the new proposed tenancy agreement can be found in the consultation documents section. The existing tenancy agreement and a full list of all proposed changes to the tenancy agreement can also be accessed in this section.
If you have any further comments on the proposed Tenancy Agreement, we’d like to hear from you. Please see the section on how to give your views to tell us what you think.
What happens next?
We will consider all comments we receive and then ask for formal approval to the changes from the Cabinet of the Council. After this, we will serve all tenants with a formal Notice of Variation (under Section 103 of the Housing Act 1985). This will include a copy of the new tenancy agreement and will inform tenants of the date on which the changes will become effective. Please note again, tenants will not be asked to sign a new agreement, but the changes will still apply after they come into effect.
