About the consultation
We’re inviting views on our draft Private Sector Housing Enforcement Policy.
The Policy sets out the general principles, and relevant legislation and guidance which will be applied in relation to enforcement action taken by the Council in respect of private housing in the borough of Dartford. The Policy sets out what owners, landlords, their agents or any other person involved in the letting or management of privately rented accommodation, and tenants of private rented sector properties, can expect from the Council when dealing with non-compliance.
The Policy has been updated to incorporate the enforcement powers and duties introduced by the Renters’ Rights Act 2025, and the June 2026 update to the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).
