We're excited to announce that a brand new event, Dartford's Big Day Out, will take place in Central Park this summer.
Dartford’s Big Day Out will make its debut on 16th July, and as the whole country celebrates Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee, this year’s theme could only be one thing – ‘The Best of British’. From 11am till 6pm, Central Park will see entertainment and activities for the whole family, and we hope that our communities will come together to enjoy this free event!
There will be something for everyone at Dartford’s Big Day Out. We welcome back the very best of the popular steam rally, with a miniature steam railway offering rides around the park. Get up close with a full sized Spitfire taking pride of place in our British history area, or enjoy traditional fair rides and attractions such as Gallopers, Punch and Judy and a Chair-o-plane. What’s more, Dartford Borough Council has laid on free rides all day!
For those wishing to relax and take in the atmosphere, there will be plenty of space to bring a picnic blanket and set up base for the day. If you don’t fancy bringing your own picnic then Central Park Café and a host of food stalls will be on hand to provide refreshments. And when you want to sit back with a cuppa, head to our Great British Tea Tent, where the tea is flowing FREE all day. What could be more British than a nice cup of tea?
If music is your thing then head to our main stage, which will host performances throughout the afternoon. Best of British is the theme so expect to see tributes to some of our most famous names as well as local music acts.
Working in partnership with Cohesion Plus, the day will also feature the best of street entertainment and performances to bring a smile to everyone’s face.
Leader of the Council Jeremy Kite said: “Dartford Borough Council has a deserved reputation for putting on great events for local people, but they take a long time to prepare. This year, it was tough to predict what restrictions might still be in place but we have pulled out all the stops to mark this amazing Platinum Jubilee year in style. We’re planning a fun, chilled day out for the whole family. Our Big Day Out will be the biggest party in Dartford this year… and everyone’s invited!”
