Thousands of people enjoyed a right royal celebration in Dartford over the weekend for the coronation of King Charles III.

Dozens of events great and small took place across the Borough as the Council supported community groups, parish councils and charities to put on local parties and gatherings.

The Council provided vouchers to help 68 coronation street parties across the borough go with a swing and helped fund another 13 larger community events, as well as welcome more than 700 children to its own Great Big Coronation Party in Central Park on Sunday.

Councillor Jeremy Kite said: “We’re proud to support local people who wanted to mark this historic occasion. We believe bringing people together should be a huge part of any council’s ambition to create better, friendlier and more cohesive neighbourhoods and the coronation was a perfect opportunity to do that.

“The Mayor and I had the privilege to drop in on a number of the street parties underway and it was pretty clear that the benefits of residents coming together to share a happy afternoon with neighbours will last long after the national weekend of celebration is over.”

“We were also proud to put on another large free event in Central Park, so many local families could also enjoy the weekend’s sunshine and create some amazing memories from a historic national milestone.”
