Dartford Borough Council is committed to helping local Ukrainians in the wake of the devastating invasion of their country by Russia.

The Council stands ready to respond openly and willingly to the resettlement and humanitarian efforts co-ordinated by the Government. We have a proud record of participation in previous aid and resettlement efforts and we are ready to do so again.

It has been uplifting to see the many local volunteer and humanitarian initiatives in response to this appalling crisis but some residents may still be unsure how to help. We would encourage them to follow the work being done by some of the established charities that are already making a huge difference, such as the Disasters Emergency Committee, the British Red Cross, Oxfam and UNICEF

Leader of the Council Jeremy Kite MBE said: "The pictures and news coming from Ukraine are heartbreaking and devastating. It’s heart-warming to see local individuals doing their bit to help people who live so far away and I couldn’t be more proud of them. We will play our part in helping the aid and resettlement programme. I have agreed that DBC will be ready to help any local Ukrainian people in Dartford who have families in the region and they should contact us for any support or help they need."
