1. The annual subscription covers the period from the 1st April to the 31st March. This charge is reduced on a sliding scale each quarter. No partial refunds will be provided for cancellations during the year.

2. Collections are made fortnightly, and start from 6am. Your garden waste bin must be presented at the boundary of your property by 6am on your scheduled collection day.

3. Collections will start only after subscription payment has been received. If you are a new customer, please note it may take up to 10 working days to deliver your bin and add your property to the collection schedule.

4. Only brown 240L wheeled bins provided by the council can be used.

5. Only garden waste i.e. grass cuttings, dead flowers, weeds, leaves, plants, foliage, twigs, hedge trimmings, small branches (less than 50mm) can be placed inside your garden waste bin. Items must be placed in loose and not in sacks.

6. Items such as soil, stone and gravel, food, rubble, turf, plant pots, wood, logs, invasive and poisonous weeds and plants (i.e. Japanese Knotweed, Ragwort, Giant Hogweed, Hemlock, Rhododendron and Yew) are not permitted. Garden waste bins containing any of these items will be deemed as contaminated and will not be emptied. A return collection will not be made and the householder will need to remove the contamination before the next scheduled collection.

7. The collection of Christmas Trees is not included in your subscription.

8. All garden waste must be contained within the garden waste bin. Please do not overfill your bin. If the bin is too heavy to be collected safely, it cannot be emptied. Overflowing of excess garden waste placed around your bin will not be collected.

9. Garden waste should be used for domestic garden waste only. The bin must not be used for any garden waste arising from business or commercial activities.

10. The brown bin remains the property of the council and must be returned if no longer used.

11. The garden waste bin remains the property of Dartford Borough Council. The resident accepts that the payment for the bin is for hire purposes only and if you do not wish to continue the service we may arrange permanent collection of the garden waste bin. If you wish to re-join the service in the future, you may need to purchase a new garden waste bin.

12. Refunds will not be made for missed collections. However, the council will make every effort to return to empty your bin if it was presented before 6am on the date of your scheduled collection, has not been contaminated with non-garden waste, and was reported within 48 hours of the expected collection date.

13. Scheduled alterations will be made to the garden waste collection service during public holidays. All information can be found via our website www.dartford.gov.uk

14. These terms and conditions may be revised and updated as required. Please check our website for up-to-date details of the service.
