If you've left the Armed Forces you will need to register with a GP on the NHS. Here you can find out where you can access healthcare services as well as local support for achieving a healthy lifestyle.

The NHS provides healthcare information for the Armed Forces Community, including service personnel, reservists, families and veterans.

If you need urgent medical help but it's not a 999 emergency, call the NHS on 111, which is available 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.

Mental wellbeing:

Combat Stress is the UK's leading veterans' mental health charity providing free treatment and support 24 hours a day - 0800 138 1619.

Help for Heroes Hidden Wounds provides confidential support delivered by psychological wellbeing practitioners, often over the phone or on Skype, so that you can easily access support from all around the country.

Mind is a mental health charity that provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem - 0300 123 3393.

Kent County Council has useful information on where to go if you need help and support, including services such as Live Well Kent and Release the Pressure.

Veterans Gateway is a network of organisations that put veterans and their families in touch with the organisations best placed to help with the advice and support they need.

Royal British Legion has an online knowledge base where you can search and browse features to find the help and information you need on a wide range of issues. They also provide help with care and independent living, physical and mental wellbeing, financial and employment support, and local community connections - 0808 802 8080.

SSAFA provide help on a wide range of areas for serving and former members of the Armed Forces including mental wellbeing, welfare services and benefits, advice and housing, disability support, support to older veterans, and Civvy Street which supports during the transition to life as a civilian - 0800 731 4880.

RBLI supports Armed Forces, people with disabilities and people who are unemployed through employment support and housing and care - 01622 795900.

Veterans UK provide free support for veterans and their families, including a helpline, veterans welfare service, and injury/bereavement compensation scheme payments - 0808 1914 2 18.

Veterans Aid helps veterans who are in crisis with accommodation, addictions, mental health problems, access to training and education, and Foreign and Commonwealth issues - 0800 012 68 67.

Officers' Association provide advice and financial help to relieve distress and hardship amongst those who have held a Commission in the Armed Forces, their families and dependents. They also support officers in their transition into civilian employment - 0203 761 6343.
