- Air Mechanic 1st Class Charles Edwin Chapman, HMS Repulse, Royal Navy. His parents lived at 93 Lowfield Street, Dartford. Died 10.12.41, aged 22, when HMS Repulse and HMS Prince of Wales were both sunk by Japanese air attack while trying to prevent the Japanese invasion of British Malaya. Commemorated on the Lee-on-Solent Memorial.
