- Private William James Christmas, 1st Battalion, The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment). Lived at 93 Milton Street, Swanscombe, prior to his marriage. Died 15.12.41, aged 26, possibly in the joint German/Italian attack on Point 204 which took place that afternoon, killing or capturing 1000 Buffs. Commemorated on the Alamein Memorial, Egypt and on the Greenhithe War Memorial.
