- Ordinary Seaman Kenneth John Coe, MV Adaptity, Merchant Navy. Lived at 14 Abbey Road, Greenhithe. Died 5.10.40, aged 19, when MV Adaptity hit a mine in the Thames Estuary. Commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial and on the Greenhithe War Memorial.
