- Boatswain Patrick Connell, SS Audacity, Merchant Navy. Lived at 47 Ames Road, Swanscombe. Died 1.3.42, aged 61, when SS Audacity hit a mine south of the Humber light vessel. Commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial and on the Roll of Honour at the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Swanscombe.
