- Sergeant John William Cross, 97 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He had grown up in Dartford and his parents still lived at 20 Fulwich Road. Died 21.3.45, aged 21, when his Lancaster bomber went missing over Bohlen, Germany. Commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
