- Able Seaman Bernard George Cummock, HMS Fidelity, Royal Navy. His parents lived at 5 Gasson Road, Swanscombe. Died 1.1.43, aged 19, following the sinking of his ship north of the Azores two days earlier. Commemorated on Portsmouth Naval Memorial and on the Roll of Honour at the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Swanscombe.
