- Sapper William Daniel Dawes, 2nd (Cheshire) Field Squadron, Royal Engineers. Lived at 22 Capel Place, Wilmington, Dartford. Died 3.12.42, aged 23, killed in explosion while clearing a path through a minefield near Ajdabiya in Libya. Buried in Benghazi War Cemetery, Libya, and commemorated on the Wilmington War Memorial.
