- Pilot Officer (Observer) Sydney Stephen Dimond, 214 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Lived at 1 Barfield Terrace, Sutton-at-Hone. Died 31.5.42, aged 30, when his Stirling bomber was lost during a raid on Köln. Buried in the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery and commemorated on the Sutton-at-Hone War Memorial and on the Dartford Grammar School In Memoriam Panel.
