- Pilot Officer (Flight Engineer) Alexander Francis Dowding, 424 (RCAF) Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Lived at 99 Birchwood Road, Wilmington, Dartford, prior to his marriage. Died 15.2.44, aged 21, when his Halifax bomber was shot down over Berlin. Buried in Berlin 1939-45 War Cemetery, Germany, and commemorated on the Wilmington War Memorial.
